What I'm Looking Forward to at MIBF (plus: links to free MIBF tickets!)

5:37 PM

Like any bookworm, I am eagerly awaiting this year's Manila International Book Fair. There's plenty to look forward to, but here are some of the things I'm most excited about:

BOOKS/PRODUCTS/SPECIAL DEALS

MIBF Exclusive Bundles (Anvil Publishing)
Lots of great bundles here. I'm definitely getting at least one of the cookbook bundles. If you haven't read a #romanceclass book yet, I suggest you give any of the Sparks Books bundles a try. I personally recommend Bundle #1 or #3.

Jomike Tejido's Claysaurus series (Anvil Publishing)

My dinosaur-loving son would enjoy this very much, I think.

OMF Literature Story Bag

OMF Lit has some excellent books, so even though there's no way to know what's inside the bag before you buy it, it's still a good deal.

EXHIBITORS

Anvil Publishing (Booth 123-127, 142-151; Aisle N & O)

Aside from the MIBF Exclusive Bundles I mentioned above, Anvil Publishing also has some new releases at discounted prices.
Personally, I have my eyes on: Looking Back 13: Guns of the Katipunan by Dr. Ambeth R. Ocampo, the Claysaurus books, and the Duck and Croc books.

WS Pacific Publications (Booth 138-141, 152-155, 2-101, 2-102; Aisle N & O, 2F)
For the past couple of years, I never fail to drop by their MIBF booth because they always have a great selection of books (workbooks, activity books, storybooks) for kids at really low prices. If you're looking for books for your children, you MUST stop by their booth.

Adarna House, Inc.
Adarna is one of my favorite children's books publishers. Adarna has been kind enough to post a price list for books they will be selling at MIBF so you can plan your budget accordingly. If you're looking for activity books for your kid, I highly recommend the Sanayang Adarna books, which are P35 each at MIBF.

DISCOUNTS YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO FROM OTHER PUBLISHERS

There are way too many exhibitors at MIBF for me to list all their discounts individually, but I've provided a few of them here so you can get a sense of what to expect.

Abiva Publishing
I bought a couple of books from this sale last year, and I'm very glad they're doing the sale again this year.

Fully Booked

National Book Store

OMF Literature
All of OMF Lit's books (minus the ones already on the sale pile and other books at 30% off) will be at 20% off. Want a sneak peek at some of the books going on sale? Click here. Some books I'm interested in are Oki Dok #2: Dirty Yan Judy Ann by Luis P. Gatmaitan and Bible Animals Activity Book by Andy Smith.

Visprint
Like Adarna House, Visprint has posted their MIBF price list online.

TIPS

1. Go early. If you can be there early, do it. It's not as crowded and you can browse more leisurely, at least for a little while.
2. Bring plenty of ecobags or a stroller bag, if you have one.
3. Take advantage of free tickets. Tickets cost P20 when you buy them at the event, but you can always use free tickets from exhibitors. For the past couple of years, I've used Adarna House's tickets, and I've never had a problem with them. Both colored and black and white tickets are accepted at the entrance. See below for a compilation of links to free tickets from exhibitors.
4. Plan ahead. If you only have a small amount of time to spare, you can use this exhibitors directory from MIBF to at least have an idea of where to go and in which order.

FREE TICKETS

A few exhibitors have posted links on social media to free tickets c/o them, and I have compiled them here.
