Review: Our Nord's Bread Hub Experience
10:06 AMIt's been awhile since we visited SM North EDSA and while some of the restaurants we liked were no longer there, we were pleased to find a new favorite to add to our list.
I originally stopped because I wanted to take a look at the breads for sale, but we decided to stay because the food choices looked very promising.
Nord's Bread Hub is located on the 3rd floor of The Block. What drew my attention first was their decor. It's gorgeous without being over the top.
Each booth has its own lamp, which seems unnecessary since The Block is well-lit, but you will definitely appreciate it when the food comes, especially if you plan on taking pictures of your food.
The tables also had utensils and napkins stored inside pitchers. I really liked the use of succulents as table decor, although I didn't check if it was the same on all tables.
Once we were seated, we were given clipboard menus, a special menu with the drinks and desserts, and a tabletop displayette with buttons you can push for requests or if you want to get your bill.
The next few pictures are the menu, so you can see for yourself the food and the prices of the items at Nord's Bread Hub.
Two of the items we ordered had complimentary coffee.
We ordered four items: Happy Morning, Primera Tapa, Chicken Pastel, and Salmon Miso Teriyaki.
I ordered the Happy Morning ("French toast, two sunny side up eggs, sausage bites with bell peppers and onions" - P315). The sausage and bell peppers were the best part. They were so good. The sausage skins were chewy so I didn't eat them, but the meat was very flavorful and went great with the bell peppers and onions. The french toast was just okay for me, but my son loved it. 😊
My mom ordered the Primera Tapa ("Premium beef tapa with scrambled egg. Served with steamed rice, seasonal vegetables and mixed green salad" - P295). She said it was great, and the tapa was very tender.
My dad ordered the Salmon Miso Teriyaki ("Grilled Norwegian Salmon, seasoned with five spice and finished with butter. Served over mashed garlic potato with miso teriyaki sauce and seasonal vegetables on the side." - P395) My dad loved this and kept saying how cheap it was compared to salmon in other restaurants. Since the rest of us aren't really salad fans, he ended up eating all the salads. He didn't complain, though, because according to him, the salads were delicious.
My son ordered the Chicken Pastel ("Chicken fillet, button mushroom, beef franks, capsicums, potato and carrots in tomato cream sauce topped with mixed cheese. Served on cast iron and dinner roll" - P280). He was given the option of choosing rice instead of dinner rolls, and he picked dinner rolls. In hindsight, rice would have been the better option because he ended up taking one bite of the dinner roll before deciding that he liked my french toast better. He enjoyed the chicken pastel, though.
The food presentation was as beautiful as the food was good. The small drinking glasses were a good match for them presentation-wise, but the problem with that was the straws that they gave us were the regular-size ones so when we used them, they kept floating up and toppling out of the glass. I would have preferred taller skinny glasses so the straw stays put or just do away with the straw altogether.
